The filter is a 10" filter cartridge. There is a basket strainer on the suction side of the pump. This basket strainer must be checked to prevent starving the pump. Check the gauge on top of the filter housing to know when to change the filter. Experience will soon tell how often the filter will require cleaning or replacing.
